Hi Richard,

I wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoy your blog. It is extremely well written and informative. Thank you very much for your posts.

I was concerned when I heard that the Siberian Weasel, the source of the hair in the finest watercolor brushes, may be endangered. Happily, according to Wikipedia: "The Siberian weasel (Mustela sibirica).... is classed as Least Concern for extinction by the IUCN, due to its wide distribution and presumably large numbers."

Here is a direct link to the IUCN information:

http://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/41659/0

That makes me feel much better about purchasing brushes that contain this wonderful hair. It may also explain why this hair is still legally sold in the United States. I thought you might like to hear this good news.

Thanks again for all your great information. Keep up the good work!

I am practicing skies as well and also have the Susie Short CD. I have burned up reams of paper and just recently produced two skies I find to be somewhat passable but still lacking something.
I have always wanted to teach, and you have several good ideas to keep in my back pocket. I have thought about the overhead demo mirror, but it would be cumbersome to lug around even if it's only twice a week, unless you have your own studio/classroom. I have seen camcorders with projectors or direct to a flat screen TV, but that's a higher price point. Definitely a room with tables for all your watercolor supplies or tripod easels with shelves

I own this box, and like it very much. It's a little on the heavy side which I don't mind, very sturdy and feels good on your hand. There is a loop ring at the bottom of the middle section for your finger to keep it stable, and less chance of dropping it. I've had it for over a year and have not seen any rust yet, fingers crossed. I really like how the paint wells are so big. You could actually use the belly of your brush to pick up the paint, saving the tips from wear.
I got it through a friend who has relatives in Spain. This box is made in China, not Spain. Here's a link to site ; http://goo.gl/HGT8E
A very good buy if you get it at the store price. I did try to buy it in China, but has a minimum order of 500 pieces for a very good price.

Hi,
Do you know of any good books on Winslow Homer? Not just history stuff but one with a lot of pictures also. Sounds like my son who needs to have pictures in his books... Takes after his dad. :)
Thanks.

Amazon has some great deals on perfectly good used books, but you probably knew that, I just learned it.
